Acting Text: Chekhov's The Seagull

Skills introduced:

A professional theatre director works on a scene from Chekhov's classic play.

Student's are introduced to professional acting techniques, and methods of analysing text and character. They unpick the scene the way an actor would when preparing for rehearsal, and they have a chance to feel what is like being directed by a professional.

The workshop finishes with groups rehearsing sections of the play individually, and performing for everyone at the end. They also have chance to feed back about their experience of the workshop, and to ask any questions about becoming a professional actor, director or studying drama at degree level.
